Reason for Joining SLN Global Network : I am a passionate learner and have spent 34 years in the field of education. My only dream is to reach out to needy students desiring to learn and help them shape a career and become independent. An educator should be a lifelong learner, driven by passion and compassion. Quality education is said to be a combination of the 3h's. the Head, Heart and Hands. I believe this is true, as logic, thinking, application and understanding as aspects of learning need to be brought into the classroom today. It is not just enough to know. Schools need to take care of the process and the product to produce learning in the classroom. We all realize the importance of virtual reality technology, in providing students a better understanding of complex content and in facilitating a tactile experience. We cannot change minds but we can change mindsets. This generation requires teachers who can think ecologically and understand the interconnection of human and natural systems. We need to equip students with an understanding of ideas rather than just learning facts. To build the citizens of tomorrow who will have the will, ability and courage to act, experiences become critical. It is only a teacher who has love for learning, love for children and an ability to transfer her knowledge in the best possible way who can become successful. Not all schools may possess the latest in digital technology, good infrastructure and highly qualified teachers. When a 'human' teacher teaches, it is also audio visual. The teacher can speak (advise) and can act, dramatize, use puppets, charts and voice modulations to capture the interest of her audience. Just like the light of a candle does not diminish by lighting many more, a teachers knowledge and wisdom will only be enhanced by keeping herself updated about the latest trends and changes, being compassionate & instilling love for learning in children and most of all being a passionate learner ready to grab knowledge available and share the same.
